Areas of Expertise
- Mechanism and Function of Neuronal Electrical Signaling in Health and Disease
Education
- PhD, University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, 2000
Research Description
My laboratory investigates the mechanisms and functions of neuronal electrical signaling in both health and disease. Our research focuses on the regulation of ion channels in neurological disorders and injuries, including mild traumatic brain injury (concussion), multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, psychiatric disorders, and alcohol use disorder (AUD). We are currently pursuing three major research directions:
- Neuron-glia mechanotransduction in mild traumatic brain injury.
- Autoimmunity-mediated nerve injury and repair.
- Maladaptive plasticity of fast-spiking neurons in psychiatric disorders and AUD.
