Research Description
At the Karawdeniya Nano-Sensing and Innovations Laboratory (KNSI Lab), my research operates at the cutting edge of analytical chemistry, nanotechnology, and biomedical engineering to build the next generation of non-invasive diagnostic tools. We specialize in developing advanced single-molecule solid-state nanopore platforms and chemisensor-based sensors capable of detecting ultra-low concentrations of critical biomarkers. By coupling these physical micro- and nanostructures with tailored surface chemistry and machine learning algorithms, our team aims to decode complex biological signals from sources like exhaled breath and complex biofluids. Ultimately, we are dedicated to translating these smart, high-resolution sensing technologies from the benchtop into practical, point-of-care clinical applications for early cancer detection, viral diagnostics, and non-invasive metabolic monitoring.
